Real-time integration architecture
Business need
Make information available across advisory, payments and client onboarding.
Context and constraints
An event-streaming platform supporting more than 70 microservices and 100 APIs; core-banking integration architecture serving more than 50,000 private-banking users.
Florian’s role
Florian designed and led implementation of the real-time event-streaming platform as Solution Integration Architect.
Architectural decisions
Kafka and Kafka Connect provided event streaming. Change data capture supported the API and core-banking integration architecture.
Implementation contribution
He translated stakeholder requirements into solution designs, reviewed architecture and code, mentored developers, established Kafka tooling and designed Docker and Kubernetes continuous-delivery pipelines.
Documented result
An event-streaming platform supporting more than 70 microservices and 100 APIs, alongside core-banking integration architecture serving more than 50,000 private-banking users.

Developer platform architecture
Business need
Give development teams consistent ways to provision infrastructure, configure applications and release changes.
Context and constraints
Applications serving more than 10,000 customers, supported by over 100 full-stack developers with shared platform requirements.
Florian’s role
As Solution Architect in the office of the CTO, Florian led architecture and implementation of an internal developer platform on Microsoft Azure.
Architectural decisions
Reusable deployment patterns used Terraform, Kubernetes, Argo CD and Bitbucket Pipelines, with Sealed Secrets/SOPS for secret management. Kafka supported asynchronous integration.
Implementation contribution
He designed API management with Tyk, Keycloak and Kubernetes, worked with product and development teams, and reviewed architecture while standardising provisioning, configuration and release workflows.
Documented result
Standardised provisioning, configuration and release workflows. GitOps and CI/CD automation improved platform reliability, security, deployment consistency and developer productivity.
Education and qualifications
Doctoral research
PhD in Communication and Distributed Systems, University of Bern, 2011–2015, magna cum laude. Research on SLA-driven management and scaling of distributed applications in cloud computing systems.
